Fashion month is one of the busiest times of the year for any fashion PR office, with a large part of our days being spent pouring over the latest shows and trends and with many of the looks trickling down to the high street, the catwalk shows are also a great insight in to what we’ll all be wearing next year. So, to mark the final day at New York Fashion Week, I take a look at my top five shows and designs from the catwalks of the big apple.
This has to be one of my favourite collections. Tory hits all the right notes with her SS17 collection, complete with trainers and a host of casual-wear. Design inspiration comes from NYC and LA, creating short and cute tailored outfits, as well as long and dreamy full length skirts. The range uses a lot of different textures and prints, which creates a really relaxed yet sophisticated look.
Ralph Lauren (literally) shut down NYFW last night, as he brought Madison Avenue to a standstill, closing part of the road for an al fresco catwalk. But this isn’t the only reason people are talking about the SS17 collection; Ralph Lauren is also one of the first ever brands to create a See Now Buy Now collection, where the whole collection is ready to buy straight after the show. This range saw a lot of block colouring, soft flowing textures and statement jewellery and I’m sure the pieces are being snapped up already!
I didn’t love all of this collection, but there are some really great stand out pieces. The collection featured a lot of velvet skirts, tops and bags, but for me it was the silk trouser suits that brought the collection together – they’re really wearable and would look great as separates, too.
Oscar De La Renta
Simply stunning, this collection featured a lot of flowing dresses and two piece co-ords. Perfect for the summer holidays, the all white dresses were a personal favourite; team them with a pair of strappy to look every inch a Grecian goddess for SS17.
This collection featured everything from structured jackets to oversized sleeves and two-piece swimwear. Completing some outfits with mini, matching handbags, everything in the range worked together effortlessly, with statement patterns and tailoring really finishing off the looks perfectly – perfect for seamlessly transitioning from spring to summer.
