Friday Favourites: 18th August 2017

vegan restaurant Javea

Ellen Kelly, Director and Co-Founder

I’ve just come back from two amazing weeks in Javea, Spain, so it felt only right to include one of the gorgeous restaurants out there as my Friday favourite this week.

While Spain isn’t always well known for its veggie options, I managed to dine impeccably over the course of my holiday, and my favourite spot had to be vegan restaurant Ethos. Situated just off the Playa d’Arenal beach in Javea, the restaurant looks absolutely gorgeous with all-white, minimal décor, and the menu is entirely plant-based and oil-free. We visited once for lunch, when the menu consists of burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, Buddha bowls and tapas, and again one evening, when the restaurant hosts themed nights with a four-course set menu. The theme for the week we visited was Spanish, and the meal consisted of Russian salad (I was confused too, but apparently this is a Spanish favourite!), spiced falafel, ginger and garlic mushrooms, and churros for dessert. On both occasions we all came away feeling satisfied and full – which is no easy feat for a party of nine (including eight meat eaters!).

The restaurant is owned and run by a Manchester-bred couple, who were absolutely lovely and so helpful, and despite only having been open a couple of months, is already ranked best in the area on TripAdvisor. If you’re ever in that part of Spain I’d definitely recommend a visit!

& Other Stories body soufle

Melissa Hassan, Account Executive

This week I have been obsessed with my new perfume and body soufflé from & Other Stories’ Sardonyx Fire range.

I actually smelt the Sardonyx Fire products in store a few weeks ago and picked up the body mist, as I was trying to be good and I knew I didn’t actually need a new perfume or even more body creams. But, after last payday the temptation was too much and I was loving the smell of the body mist so much that I had to go back for the perfume and body soufflé.

The Sardonyx Fire scent is a delicious mix of ‘dark amber, wild vanilla and hints of bloom’ and has a strong, sexy vibe that’s perfect for evening drinks and nights out. The body soufflé is so rich and strongly scented that it feels really luxurious to apply, I can’t believe that the pot was just £10! I can see myself heading back for more payday treats this month, in the form of the scented candle… Hopefully to be a future Friday Favourite!

ASOS sale

Jazmin Cabrera, Director and Co-Founder

My Friday favourite this week is, quite predictably, the ASOS sale. I always go mad for online shopping during sales season, but just can’t seem to help myself when there are so many bargains to be had. Recently I’ve snapped up lots of ASOS pieces for my wedding at bargain prices (hello waistcoats for the groomsmen and shoes for the bridesmaids), as well as a couple of treats for myself, including these two pairs of beaut shoes.

I’ve had a pair of silver loafers for a long time, but being someone who always gravitates towards gold when it comes to jewellery and accessories, I felt that a gold pair was seriously lacking in my wardrobe, so when I spotted these at the bargain price of £9.50, it was a no brainer. I’m not going to lie, they feel like they were going to shred my ankles the minute I put them on, but I’m hoping a bit of wearing in will help with that.

The heeled mules are something a little bit different, but being that they were only £10.50, I figured I may as well give them a go! I’m thinking they’ll look perfect with step-hem jeans and a tee or oversized shirt.

I don’t think the sales will be around for much longer, so I’m off to see what else I might fancy snapping up…

Disposable camera

Lucy Tallen, PR and Social Assistant

This week’s Friday favourite is certainly nothing new to the photography scene! But the humble disposable camera has become an important part of my kit for any kind of event.

I recently took one abroad with me on a holiday to Cuba, where it was put to good use in lively bars, the sea and aboard boats. There were no worries of misplacing it or the risk of water damage, as my modest disposable was worth a bargain £7.50. But, more importantly, used alongside our GoPro, it helped to capture snapshots of the most magical, totally authentic moments that made our holiday unforgettable! There’s also great anticipation waiting for the unseen images to be developed, a rarity nowadays. Despite a few expected duds, I was overjoyed that 27 random, happy moments from my holiday had been documented – unfiltered.

So, whether it’s a wedding, a holiday, a launch party or a PR event, keep a disposable camera in mind. It was a real delight to go back to basics with a traditional camera for a change, rather than putting an Instagram filter on my holiday.
