Last Saturday evening I attended Radio 1xtra live, hosted by Radio 1xtra (the cool brother to Radio 1). The music event happens every October, and is held in different locations each year, announced just a month in advance.
About five acts get announced in the lineup each year, with more surprise artists popping up throughout the night. This year it was held at Liverpool Echo’s arena, and was a sellout event! If you don’t like British rap/grime music, well this event isn’t for you, but each year is always so much fun, and great to see the artists becoming well-known names.
With Stormzy headlining, other acts included Wretch 32, Craig David, Wiley and Sean Paul to name a few. Other under-the-radar grime artists also performed – it’s a great platform for them to get their name out there.
Each artist gets a 20 minute slot to perform, and then it’s on to the next one – this makes it really interesting as you are excited to see the next act. It’s a definite must if you like this type of music, but be quick… tickets sell out within a few minutes!

My Friday favourite this week goes to my new knit from Topman. I’m a huge fan of oversized knitwear for the AW season as well as a lover of nautical stripes, and this jumper manages to combine the two. Perfect for the colder weather that we’re now facing and subtle enough in print to be teamed with a variety of outfits, I’m sure that this jumper will become one of my ‘go to’ wardrobe staples this winter. The jumper also comes in camel for a more Autumnal feel.

The Danish are known for being one of the happiest nations in the world, so it’s not a real surprise that books divulging their secrets to contentment are becoming a craze here in the UK. After reading a few articles online about ‘hygge’ – a Danish concept that prioritises being at home and around loved ones, and feeling warm and cosy, as main factors of happiness – I treated myself to this book by Danish actress Marie Tourell Soderberg, in the hope of picking up a few tips!
The book is all about creating and recognizing ‘hygge’ situations in your everyday life – these are as simple as watching a movie indoors with candles whilst it’s raining outside, cooking a meal for friends, or going for a walk in the park. Marie points out that most of us do most of these things regularly anyway, but it’s lovely that the Danish actually acknowledge them as a concept. Especially with it getting colder, I’m hoping to take her advice and enjoy some cosy situations over the winter months.

This song has been on the radio non-stop, as well as at the top of my Spotify playlist, and I love it (apart from the fact he has cut his hair!). The Weeknd always releases top hits and this is no different, but this time he’s had a little help from duo Daft Punk. This is the lead single from his upcoming third album, which I am very excited about!
When I first heard the song I have to admit I didn’t have a clue what he was singing, but the song is based around the extravagant celebrity lifestyle and how it can affect an entertainer like himself. Starboy is in the charts in over 25 countries already – it’s safe to say The Weeknd has done it again with this hit!

On Wednesday and Thursday of this week I was in London with the founders our fabulous makeup brush brand Spectrum, meeting press for what was basically a lot of food! We started with dinner at Tredwell’s with the ladies from Hello Fashion Monthly, before breakfast the next day with the lovely Look team at Sea Containers at the Mondrian. But in terms of venues, one of the highlights of the days has to be Sketch, where we enjoyed afternoon tea with the Cosmo ladies – the interior really is something to behold and all the pink definitely tied in with Spectrum’s vibe. I can easily see why it’s one of the most Instagrammed restaurants in London!
