Now the Great British Heatwave seems to have said its final farewell and we’re back to grey skies and (light) knitwear, I’ve been thinking about my Autumn/Winter wardrobe – and the timing couldn’t be better as some of my favourite high street stores have just started dropping coats, jumpers and boots. Dare I say it, it’s almost making me excited for the new season (but I really wouldn’t mind if the heatwave came back either…), so, I’ve rounded up some of the best new drops out there and I’ll race you to the checkout!
Zara is always the ultimate for me and every season it seems to outdo itself. This corduroy suit would be perfect dressed down with trainers and a tee, while the chain print midi would also suit trainers, with an oversized jumper to give it a casual air. The checked shirt is the perfect nod to this season’s Clueless revival without going full Cher Horowitz and the khaki skirt has more than a bit of Meghan Markle. I’ll have it all please!
Mango is definitely coming close to stripping Zara of its ‘best shop’ crown – especially during the sales period! That said, these new in pieces are to die for and will see you through season after season. The shade of the green coat is just perfect (even if it does remind me of my home office which is painted in that exact hue!), while the skirt, jumper and coat are the type of A/W neutrals that you will just wear again and again. Totally adding them all to my basket.
I love H&M for a more affordable shopping experience- they quality may not be as good as Zara or Mango, but it’s up there, and I rarely leave empty handed! I’ve been looking for a good trench for what feels like decades and this looks like it would come pretty close – perfect with wide leg trousers and heels, or with jeans and trainers as it’s been styled here. The corduroy suit is something I first spotted on Influencer Liv Purvis and have coveted ever since, while the jumpers are just classics that I will wear until they’re threadbare – especially that black one! I spend every Winter trying to find the perfect black jumper before eventually just buying ones that aren’t quite right, but I think I may just have succeeded before the Winter frost has even arrived this year!
Stradivarius reminds me of holidays to Spain when I was younger, when I’d always leave with bags and bags of shopping, delighted to be able to take my new wardrobe back to England, so when it launched over here, I was delighted! It’s come on leaps and bounds since those days and is fast becoming one of my favourite stores. The floral dress and the utility jumpsuit are perfect transitional pieces – wear now as they are, or layer up with a polo neck and boots come Winter – while the boots are the perfect day to night shoe. As for that skirt, well if it isn’t in my wardrobe by tomorrow, I’ll be very disappointed. I’ll see you in the queue!
